World Affairs Council Hosts WorldAffairs 2014 Conference on Global Issues

Expert speaker lineup includes Thomas Friedman, Shadi Hamid, Ray Suarez and Jose Antonio Vargas

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- World Affairs Council:

WHAT: The World Affairs Council's annual conference, WorldAffairs 2014, is bringing together global experts and engaged citizens to discuss, debate and enhance perspective on the world's most pertinent issues of the day. Featured speakers include Thomas Friedman, foreign affairs columnist at The New York Times, Shadi Hamid of the Brookings Institution, Ray Suarez, host of "Inside Story" at Al Jazeera America, and Jose Antonio Vargas, founder of and undocumented immigrant.

WorldAffairs shares fresh insights and new perspectives on current global topics through main-stage conversations, panel discussions and sideline events, where participants and speakers together delve into the critical issues front and center on the global stage. WorldAffairs 2014 will explore topics of climate change, cybersecurity, drug policy, immigration and privacy, and will take a closer look at regional hotspots such as Afghanistan, Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan, Russia and Syria.

The NextGen Changemakers opening evening reception on March 14 at 6:15 PM will showcase innovative solutions to global civic problems. A select group of Bay Area companies and organizations at the intersection of technology and civic life will highlight their approaches. Featured organizations include, Code for America, Institute for the Future, MapLight, POPVOX, the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Civic Innovation and Socrata.
